LESSONS

Iowa Driftless Trout

The Iowa Driftless is often considered to be one of the most underrated trout fisheries in the country. Let there be no mistake, this state has some hidden gems! Join me for a day in gorgeous limestone bluff country learning to pursue Iowan trout on the fly. From the perspective of a TEACHER and guide that has chased salmonids (Salmon/Trout/Steelhead/Char) from coast to coast, I hope you'll join me for an experience you won't forget.

My love for fly fishing, for water, and for fish comes from my family history of saltwater fishermen (Mexico, Hawai'i, Okinawa, and now the US). I am the first fly fisher in my family, but make no mistake, I did not take this endeavor lightly. My angling story began fishing the high desert streams of the Eastern Sierras with my grandfather. My spiritual journey began after moving to Michigan in my late childhood; spending every moment of 6 years in pursuit of my first steelhead on the fly. I owe my proud identity as a fly fisherman to the magical and transcendent Pere Marquette and Au Sable rivers. Since then I've had the privilege of chasing wild trout across the country, from streams and rivers of the Mountainous West to the famous rivers of the American Northeast. Learning and growing from the CULTURE  unique to each fly fishing community has undoubtedly been the most fulfilling part! Now, I have the great pleasure of calling the Driftless Area my home, merging cultural fly fishing knowledge and experience to present the best of the Driftless to you!

The honor I have in guiding is seeing the CONFIDENCE in every angler flourish as a result of their ability to replicate and utilize skills they learn with me. Fly fishing is a vast and diverse angling form. My goal is to help give you a positive and personalized environment to excel and succeed in Iowa's Driftless Region; creating a customized experience for every kind of angler, first timer to seasoned angler alike. So join me on a fishing trip revealing the best of wild Iowan trout country!
